Surrey, B.C. – Thousands of Princess Irene tulips are helping to welcome back the spring season throughout Surrey as Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation launches its annual celebration of donors.

More than 600 planter pots full of tulips will bloom during the coming weeks as part of the Foundation’s Tulips for Tomorrow campaign to support health care and beautify the community.

“Our community has a long tradition of generously supporting our hospitals and health care system,” says Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts. “The City of Surrey is pleased to once again welcome dozens of beautiful tulip displays to our city.”

The tulips are now beginning to emerge from the ground, and displays can be found in 26 locations including Bear Creek Park, Holland Park, Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre and Surrey Memorial Hospital. Another display at Guildford Town Centre will include a special tribute to donors.

In addition, donors who have given $1,000 or more in 2011 will either receive a voucher in the mail to pick up their own tulips at 99 Nursery & Florist between March 23rd and April 1st, while businesses and community groups that have contributed $5,000 or more will be recognized at one of the public displays.

Construction company Bouygues Building Canada, which is part of the team that built the Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre and is also working on the new RCMP E Division headquarters in Surrey, is the presenting sponsor of Tulips for Tomorrow.

Several other businesses have once again partnered with the Foundation to provide the tulip bulbs, soil, planter pots, storage, landscaping, delivery, signage, and creative services for Tulips for Tomorrow. Visit www.tulipsfortomorrow.com for a complete list of Tulips for Tomorrow partners and display locations.

“We are blessed with a solid group of loyal supporters, without whom we would not have been able to recognize our donors through Tulips for Tomorrow for five years straight,” says Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation Chair Ron Knight.

Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation is currently fundraising in support of a TPN Compounder, which is technology that provides nutrition to premature and seriously ill babies. The equipment will eventually be located in a new pediatric pharmacy – a first for Fraser Health. The pediatric pharmacy is being built within a new 48-bed neonatal intensive care unit on the second floor of the Critical Care Tower now under construction at the hospital.

Established in 1992, Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation has raised more than $60 million to purchase medical equipment, fund innovative programs, and support training and research.

We have collected planters to use again next year. Remember to look for tulip bulbs for sale in the fall to show your support for Surrey Memorial Hospital.

As many as 30,000 Princess Irene tulip bulbs are going into the ground this fall as part of a campaign by Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation led this year by one of the builders of the new Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre.

Surrey, B.C. – As many as 30,000 Princess Irene tulip bulbs are going into the ground this fall as part of a campaign by Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation led this year by one of the builders of the new Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre.

Bouygues Building Canada, which is also part of the team currently building new RCMP E Division headquarters in Surrey, is the presenting sponsor of Tulips for Tomorrow. This signature campaign helps the Foundation raise money for Surrey Memorial Hospital and beautify the community.

“Our company’s first major projects in Canada are right here in Surrey,” says Bouygues Building Canada Chief Financial Officer David Porcon. “We are proud to give back to the community by partnering with Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation.”

Tulips for Tomorrow celebrates Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation’s donors by planting thousands of Princess Irene tulip bulbs in the fall in time to bloom come springtime.

Donors to the Foundation of $5,000 or more are recognized with tulip displays in public and business locations throughout Surrey. Donors of $1,000 can claim their very own planter pot full of tulips in the spring. Those who give $100 will support a public planting.

Donations this fall will help the Foundation’s stroke care campaign in support of expanding the hospital’s neurology unit. A new 36-bed neurology unit will open in the Critical Care Tower currently under construction at Surrey Memorial.

“Stroke is the third leading killer in British Columbia and the top cause of long-term disability in adults,” notes Foundation Chair Ron Knight. “Expansion of the neurology unit will help the hospital keep up with the needs of the people who live in this region.”

Several businesses have once again teamed up with the Foundation to make Tulips for Tomorrow possible. Partners have provided tulip bulbs, soil, planter pots, landscaping, delivery, storage, creative design and signage at no cost to the Foundation.

Princess Irene tulip bulbs are available at select retail locations, with 100% of the proceeds going to the Foundation. Tulip bulb packages, at $10 for ten bulbs, can be found at three Surrey locations:

With a strong corporate culture, Bouygues Construction is a world leader in the construction sector, present on all five continents. It carries out major projects in around 80 countries through its local subsidiaries or in partnership with independent local companies.

Established in 1992, Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation has raised more than $55 million to purchase medical equipment, fund innovative programs, and support training and research.

Surrey, B.C. – Thousands of Princess Irene tulips are once again on display as Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation celebrates its donors.

Close to 600 planter pots full of tulips make up the fourth annual Tulips for Tomorrow spring bloom, including public displays of tulips at Surrey Memorial Hospital, Guildford Town Centre, Holland Park and Bear Creek Park. The tulips will bloom in the coming weeks as part of the Foundation’s campaign to support the hospital and beautify the community.

In addition, Princess Irene tulips can be found in front of dozens of businesses that have contributed a minimum of $5,000 to the Foundation during the last year. Donors who have given between $1,000 and $4,999 in the past year are receiving invitations by mail to pick up their tulips during business hours on Friday, March 25th and Saturday, March 26th at 99 Nursery and Florist near Surrey Memorial Hospital.

Several businesses have once again partnered with the Foundation to provide the tulip bulbs, soil, planter pots, storage, landscaping, delivery, signage, and creative services for Tulips for Tomorrow. Visit www.tulipsfortomorrow.com for a complete list of Tulips for Tomorrow partners.

This year, the spring bloom takes place while the Foundation is in the midst of its 100 Days to Give campaign, which is looking to match a $5 million donation from BC entrepreneur Jim Pattison. The combined $10 million in donations will help purchase medical equipment to attract new doctors to the region. Visit http://100days.smhfoundation.com/ for more information.

Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation’s 3rd annual Tulips for Tomorrow campaign – an appeal to raise money for high-tech newborn incubators and to beautify the community - has been launched with a $50,000 donation from one of Canada’s largest real estate development companies.

Surrey, B.C. – Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation’s 3rd annual Tulips for Tomorrow campaign – an appeal to raise money for high-tech newborn incubators and to beautify the community – has been launched with a $50,000 donation from one of Canada’s largest real estate development companies.

Foxridge Homes – a Qualico company – has become the campaign’s lead donor for the second straight year. It also brings to $200,000 the developer’s contribution to Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation since 2007.

“This is a wonderful way for our company to give back by supporting health care and helping to beautify the community at the same time,” says Jake Friesen, Qualico Developments’ Pacific Region Vice President and a Foundation board member.

This year, the Foundation is helping Surrey Memorial Hospital prepare to care for the smallest and sickest of newborns. Specialized equipment including state-of-the-art incubators will assist the hospital as it becomes the regional tertiary centre for Fraser Health for the care of high-risk deliveries and newborns.

Through Tulips for Tomorrow, tens of thousands of Princess Irene tulip bulbs are planted in the fall in time to bloom come springtime. Donors of $5,000 or more to Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation are recognized with tulip displays in public and business locations throughout Surrey. Donors of $1,000 can claim their very own planter pot full of tulips in the spring. Those who give $100 will support a public planting at the hospital.

“The Foundation’s business partners are instrumental in this effort,” notes Foundation Chair Jacy Wingson. “They provide tulip bulbs, soil, planter pots, landscaping, delivery, storage, creative design, and signage at no cost, so that we can raise money for the hospital, recognize the generosity of our donors, and beautify the community.”

Once again, tulip bulbs are also available at select retail locations, with 100% of the proceeds going to the Foundation. Tulip bulb packages can be found at three Surrey locations:

• 99 Nursery and Florist – 9376 King George Highway
• Art’s Nursery – 8940 192 street
• David Hunter Garden Centers – 15175 72nd avenue

Established in 1992, Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation has raised more than $50 million to purchase medical equipment, fund innovative programs, and support training and research.
